What began as a small pilot program using virtual reality (VR) in sixth-grade science at Newark Academy has grown into a dynamic, multi-grade initiative thanks to the generosity of Marjorie Lopus Jameson ’77 and her family. Inspired by a classroom demonstration, Marjorie donated VR headsets and a specialized UV-sanitizing storage cart to support immersive learning.
Her sister and brother, Nancy and Alex Lopus, further expanded the program with additional headsets and equipment for ninth-grade biology students. Their combined support has significantly enhanced hands-on, innovative learning experiences for students, bringing cutting-edge technology into the classroom and strengthening NA’s science program.
