Toward Tomorrow’s Newark Academy

As we celebrate this incredible milestone in our school’s history, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on the secrets to Newark Academy’s success. 

One vital ingredient for sustained excellence is our ability to adapt. Over the course of our first 250 years, our school has been in five different locations. It has functioned during wars, economic depressions, social upheaval, and global pandemics — ensuring that our students continue to thrive. Even in calmer times, we have had to evolve to deliver a first-rate education.

In addition to Newark Academy’s spirit of resilience and capacity to adapt, another key to the school’s long-term success is its people. Our enduring strength can be attributed directly to the talented leadership, faculty, and staff — past and present — whose expertise in the classroom and unwavering commitment to students result in an excellent education. Of course, the strength of Newark Academy extends far beyond the classroom — our 250 years of excellence would not have been possible without our broader community, including our benefactors. 

Ad Lumen: The Campaign for Newark Academy will build upon our strengths and focus on three pillars. Our first priority is to continue to curate an inclusive school community by raising funds for new scholarships and additional financial aid; second, we will make it more feasible for dedicated faculty and staff to teach and work here by enhancing our benefits; and third, with a sustainable future in mind, we will invest in the physical spaces that encourage community building and teamwork.
